The energy and phase changes unit was a fairly simple one. As the unit was only one week long, we ran through the lessons and labs quickly, which was kind of difficult going through all of the information so fast. Although the information was pretty easy, it was difficult to memorize all of the information so fast, but it turned out okay. I prepared a lot for the test the night before, which was good for me, as I got a 95% on the test. Overall, this unit was a success, so I am happy.

Biodiesel Boat Races

The biodiesel boat races were a very fun project. Using the biodiesel that was made in class, we constructed putt putt boats to race down a track. The lightest, best boat would go the fastest, and the group that won got 15 extra credit points in class. My boat was made out of a milk carton, which was not very balanced, so my boat was not very fast. Oh well, I still had a good time making my boat.

Biodiesel Video

The Biodiesel Video project was very fun! My partner and I created a one minute video that was entered into a contest to win $1,000! Although I don't think that our video will win, it was very interesting to learn about the different aspects of Biodiesel and how it is an alternative fuel to petroleum products.

Pancake Party

For this unit, we decided to have a pancake party to celebrate our success on the test. We brought in all types of toppings, and Mrs. Frankenberg made pancakes for everybody. It was a super chill day and I needed it because I had a bunch of different types of tests and projects due that day, so it was a nice relaxing day in chemistry class.

Bonding Lecture in the Library

In the library during this unit, we practiced the bonding of all types of structures, using the Have-Need-Share method. We used the cool white board tables to help us remember the different types of bond shapes and geometries, as well as helping us shorten the process. It was a very fun day!
